During the Fall '15 semester, students studied Reporting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10 a.m. After completing the profile pieces featured on this site, students covered events common to any newspaper's news beat. First, students visited the campus police station and requested the university's police reports. After picking a crime item that seemed interesting, students interviewed a police officer (along with other sources) and completed a crime story. Later in the semester, students attended a Washington County Court of Common Pleas session, a California Area School District School Board meeting, and a California Borough Council Meeting. Students reported on the proceedings and posted the finished pieces on Websites they made for class. As their final work for the semester, students reported and wrote a longer, investigative/enterprise piece.
